Famous Jewels: when cinema creates the icon

Among the most famous jewels in movie history we find The Heart of the Ocean, the necklace of the film Titanic. In the story, the diamond was originally owned by Louis XVI and cut into a heart shape after the French Revolution. In the film, the necklace was purchased by Caledon Hockley, a week before he sailed on the Titanic.

The necklace was meant to be given as an engagement present to his fiancée Rose. Another famous necklace is certainly that worn by Nicole Kidman in the movie Moulin Rouge. The necklace wasn’t a fake; it was designed by Stefano Canturi. It’ s made up of 1308 diamonds of about 134 carats. It was the most expansive jewel ever made for a movie. And finally, we have the unforgettable pearl necklace worn by Audrey Hepburn in the famous movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s. A few details for one of the most famous movie scenes: the Givenchy black dress, an elegant tiara and the wonderful necklace made up of 100-120 pearls and diamonds.
