How many times we think to throw the obsolete necklace that we don’t wear anymore, or the outmoded brooch given by aunt? Now these objects will become little new treasures thanks to the “ethical metalsmiths,” people who use reclaimed materials and artistic imagination to create new jewelry from old.
For these artisans, the real challenge is re-purposing materials in a new ethical vision. The creators of this movement, named Radical Jewelry Makeover Wisconsin, are the graduate students at UW-Madison, who now are looking for donations of various kinds: gold jewels, but also costume jewelry, trinkets to re-use in ethical way. To have more information about the activity of the movement you can visit the site http://radicaljewelrymakeover.org, where you can also donate your old-fashioned jewels.
